November 13, 1612 [at Green Bay/Bay de Verde]
In the morning the wind at west, sun shining some part of the day. This morning we departed from Hartes Content. Coasting along, before we came unto Backalo and Green Bay, passing the point, we see at the top of [a] hill, in one company, 12 or 13 deer marching along one after another ... at the verie pointe.
This night we ankered in a little cove to the easter side of Green Bay. The night being very Faire and little wind. The wind at south west all the night. Our boat [the shallop] staying behind us and the canoe at the Old Perlican. [There] being much sea [they] could not bring her about the Grates.
Guy's entry for this date.
