In the morning the winde at weste. Verie cold, Freezing hard until it was noon. The sun shining verie pleasant in the after noon. Very close, snowing verie fast until night. The weather reasonable mild and little winde. The night proved exceeding warm as possible might be.
This evening those that went towards the Savages returned again by reason [that] they found the snow so deep that they could not travel and went but 2 miles in all from Salmon Cove.
